“How to get good, clear sound where you want it, generate more income for your event, avoid health and safety headaches, and get the thanks you deserve, without any extra effort on your part”
With all that’s involved in running any kind of event these days, you could be forgiven for not giving much thought to your Public Address (PA) system, but it’s not only important for the smooth running of your show, It’s essential to have a good PA to meet current health and safety requirements, keep your visitors informed, keep the ambience of your show, and ensure everybody hears those important announcements.
But that’s not all! We have developed and proved very effective techniques to help you keep your visitors happily staying and spending for longer, which adds to both your stall holders and your own “bottom line”. There’s more about that later, Firstly, I ought to explain what we do and who we are.
What we do for you
We plan, set up, and operate the PA system for you during your event, leaving you free to concentrate on running the show. Because we are fanatical about the quality and reliability of our systems, we only use broadcast standard equipment, plus large high quality all weather speakers to get the best sound coverage. Our custom radio microphone aerial system means that commentators can be located anywhere within a large area, unencumbered by wires. You can either do commentary / announcements yourselves, or leave it to us. This opens up many possibilities, not least among them the opportunity to enhance both income and visitor satisfaction. There’s more about that in detail below, so read on to find out more.
I agonised about taking so much trouble to put together effective, clear sound systems. When nearly a ton of prize Friesian cow broke loose from her handler and thundered towards an unsuspecting group of people, everyone (including me) was very relieved that I did...
Who else we do it for
Mainly outside events, but we can supply just about any function of any size. These include: Steam shows, County shows, Regattas, Corporate events, Fetes, Vintage vehicle shows, Horticultural Shows, Air shows, Sporting events, Carnivals, etc. We already provide PA systems for most of the big shows on the Isle of Wight and some on the South Coast
Just in case you were wondering how big, in 2004 we provided a PA system covering the entire length of the 800 metre runway for the “Battle of Britain” Air show at Sandown and also provided a second system to cover the entire town and Quayside at Yarmouth, as well as a Music PA system for live bands performing at Yarmouth. Both events were on the same weekend.
Have Speakers, will travel
From our Home base on the Isle of Wight, we cover most of the South, including Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, and Dorset to Cornwall. There is no hard and fast rule. We can, (and sometimes do) go anywhere! Please contact us to discuss your event - if we can help we definitely will!
How we can help you generate more income
And now for the interesting bit! Some years ago, we discovered that the visitors would start leaving well before the end of the day, although there was still plenty to see and do. In order to overcome that problem, we experimented with numerous ways to keep the visitors on site and happily spending their money, and now have evolved a very successful system for doing this. We have already discussed the first necessity, namely putting a first class PA system in place. The second part involves skillfully using it to promote what the sideshows and stall holders have to offer. Among other techniques, we visit each of the stall holders briefly before the show starts, and give them a small form to either write down anything they want to promote, such as a demonstration, a new product, or special offer. We then either script a short promotion, or sometimes use our long range radio microphones to do an interview with stall holders who have something of special interest to tell visitors.
Obviously, this has to be done skillfully and carefully timed throughout the day, which means that the visitors will not be bombarded with “commercials” all day, and also the promotions need to be of genuine interest to the visitors, without sounding like supermarket “special offers”. This has proved very successful with our current shows, and now it’s your turn to see what we can do for you!
So who are we?
I’m Mike Sells, and here’s my credentials. I have been designing audio and other electronics for over 30 years, which includes award winning hi-fi equipment, broadcast equipment for the BBC and ITV companies, sonar monitoring for ships, marine and Formula 1 communications, PA equipment, Pro audio etc, and worked with many big name bands, audio manufacturers, and radio stations.
Also during the last 30 years, I have provided the sound systems for hundreds of events, from the Daily Mail Ski show to the small village fete. This means that first class technical expertise is behind everything we do to make your show go smoothly.
